Security arrangements for Amarnath yatra reviewed

For the smooth conduct of this year's Amarnath yatra, Joint Yatra Control Rooms would be set up in each district to help enable collect details related to the pilgrimage.

A decision to this effect was taken in a meeting here to review the security arrangements of Amarnath yatra presided over by Inspector General, Jammu Zone, Rajesh Kumar.

Joint Yatra Control Rooms would be established in each district to deal with the issues relating to Yatra, an official spokesman said.

The 55-day yatra to Amarnath shrine in South Kashmir Himalayas would begin on June 28 and conclude on Raksha Bandhan on August 21.
 

Detailed deliberations were held on various issues concerning the security of Yatra, he said.

Senior officers of Police, Traffic, Administration, Army, CRPF, Intelligence Agencies attended the review meeting at Police Control room.

Reception and Information Centres would be established en-route for providing the pilgrims a first-hand information about the routes and lodgment's available for accommodation at various places, he said.

He said the main reception Centre would be at Lakhanpur, Kunjwani and Railway Station.
