Security beefed up in Hampi

Security has been stepped up in the world heritage site of Hampi and other sensitive areas in the district in view of the blast in Bengaluru.

Tungabhadra Dam and Ballari Thermal Power Station and other high population density areas had also come under the security blanket, police said.

As per instructions from the office of the Director General and also in view of New Year celebrations, police are also checking vehicles and have deployed sniffer dog teams and metal detectors.

Ballari SP Chetan Singh Rathore said security had been stepped up at check posts on the district and state border.
 

The low-intensity blast triggered by an improvised explosive device in front of a hotel in Benglauru killed a women and injured three others on December 28.
