In the wake of Sarabjit Singh's death after a murderous assault in a Lahore prison and attack on a Pakistani prisoner in Jammu, security has been stepped for two Pak prisoners lodged in jail here, Kanpur Jail SP said today.

The two Pakistani prisoners, Basaat Ahmed and Idrees Ahmed, have been separated from other inmates and shifted to a high security barrack guarded by four security guards round- the-clock, Kanpur jail superintendent P D Saloniya said.

Basaat has been lodged here from past three years and Idrees from last one and half months, Saloniya said, adding, they were arrested for overstaying in India after their visas expired.

Food is being provided to them in the barrack and high security arrangements have also been made outside the barrack if any of them wants to go out, Saloniya said.

No other inmates will be allowed to meet the two prisoners, he said.

The Jail SP said he was keeping a regular watch on them.
