Union Minister of State for Home Hansraj Gangaram Ahir today said security forces are giving befitting reply to the firing from Pakistan and the government is committed to protect the life and property of the people residing in border areas.
At a meeting with the state BJP leadership to review the situation on the border, he said Pakistan is resorting to shelling as it is frustrated over the surgical strikes by the Indian Army in PoK.
Pakistan-sponsored militancy is responsible for the incidents of burning of schools in the Kashmir Valley, he said.

At the meeting, the minister was told that the unemployed youth in border areas of Jammu, Samba and Kathua districts face discrimination in matters related to recruitment in the army and other forces.
He was also apprised of the problems the refugees from West Pakistan face in getting domicile certificates from the state government, a spokesman said.
