Security guard killed by miscreants in Hooghly district

A security guard was killed by miscreants late last night after they raided a cable wire manufacturing factory at Serampore in Hooghly district.

Vinod Pandey (51), the security guard, rushed to the spot on hearing deafening sound when a group of miscreants were hurling bombs near the factory at Ghoramara area.

Pandey, who was shot at from point blank range, was declared dead when he was taken by some factory workers to Serampore Walsh Hospital.

SDPO Serampore Subimal Paul rushed to the spot and rounded up two persons. Bombs and cartridges were recovered from the factory.

The miscreants had also raided the factory two weeks ago.
