A security guard was killed in a road accident last night following which a vehicle was set ablaze by an agitated mob in the Dankaur area, police said.

"The guard, Arjun, was returning from duty last night and as he reached his village Atta Fatehpur a speeding canter hit him. He died," Farmood Ali Pundir, SHO, Dankaur said.

Today morning, at Atta Fatehpur village, a panchayat was going on between the victim and canter driver's family members.

Suddenly some persons became agitated and allegedly set ablaze the canter, the SHO said.

A fire tender was rushed and the fire was extinguished.

Agitators also blocked traffic demanding compensation for the victim. Senior police officers pacified them and traffic jam was lifted after an hour, the police official said.
