Delhi Police has made adequate security arrangements outside banks and ATMs in order to tackle long queues as people rush to exchange their old currency notes with new ones and withdraw cash.

"As many as 3,400 personnel of paramilitary and Delhi Police, along with 200 quick reaction teams, have been deployed at ATMs and banks across the national capital for maintaining security at banks in view of the rush of people," said a senior police officer.

Security has been beefed up in banks in view of the rush of people. The district police has been maintaining a tight vigil across all banks and ATMs to ensure that no untoward incident happens.

However, many people were in for a disappointment today as many of the automated teller machines (ATMs) weren't operating since they hadn't been stocked with cash.
