Security remained high at the Kochi airport for the second day today in the wake of a threat of a bomb explosion or a possible suicide attack on a flight on the Mumbai-Kochi sector and a review will take place on Monday.
The security at the airport had been tightened since yesterday after the airport authorities received information from Kolkata that there was a threat to the Air India flight on the Mumbai-Kochi and Ahemedabad-Mumbai sectors.
The Mumbai-Kochi flight arrived here at 7.40 AM this morning amid high security. There were 123 passengers and six crew on board the aircraft.

Airport sources told PTI that the Cochin International airport at nearby Nedumbassery will be on high security till Monday when a review meeting will be held. The situation will be analysed after the meeting after which a decision to continue with the high security or not will be taken.
Airport Director A K C Nair had said that they received information from Kolkata that there was a threat of bomb attack or bomb suicide attack on an AI flight on the Mumbai-Kochi sector on October 25 and Ahmedabad-Mumbai sector last night.
A Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, Quick Response team, CISF and police are keeping a constant vigil at the airport. Security at the airport perimeter entrance has also been further tightened.
