A high level meeting of the police and CRPF here today discussed 'comprehensively' about the security scenario of Jungle Mahal, the former strong hold region of the Maoists.
"It was a comprehensive study of various aspects of the security scenario of Jungle Mahal, the forested parts of Bankura, Purulia and West Midnapore districts," Inspector General of Police Siddhinath Gupta told reporters here after the meeting.
"Post-panchayat election situation, how to retain the peace in Jungle Mahal, how to counter the Maoists if they dared to make a return to the area were discussed," Gupta said.
Besides Gupta, DIG (Midnapore) Ajay Nanda, SPs of Bankura, Purulia, West Midnapore and Birbhum districts and commanders of the CRPF attended the meeting.
