Security has been beefed at the Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan (DJJS) dera at Nurmahal in Punjab's Jalandhar district in the wake of a religious congregation tomorrow.
Elaborate security arrangements has been made in anticipation of a huge rush at DJJS sect in view of religious congregation tomorrow, police said today.
A single bench of the Punjab and Haryana high court on December one had asked the state government to take steps to cremate dera head Ashutosh Maharaj, who had been declared dead since January this year.
However, a division bench of the high court will take up a petition on Monday filed against the verdict by single bench to cremate dera head Ashutosh within 15 days.
Police have deployed video camera on mobile vans at different places at the DJJS headquarters and tomorrow's religious congregation would be videographed.
Besides, anti-riots vehicles have also been deployed outside the DJJS premises, police said.
Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner K K Yadav said on the day of the bhandara (religious congregation) tomorrow, the DJJS has been asked to vacate the venue before 5 PM to ensure that followers do not stay overnight at the premises.
However, in a bid to bring followers to the dera tomorrow, a three-minute video clip of Ashutosh, showing previous dera gatherings with heavy attendance, has gone viral.
Meanwhile, DJSS spokesman Vishalanand claimed the bhandara on December 14 was a "routine affair."
Ashutosh's body has been kept in a freezer since January in a room at his dera after he was declared clinically dead by the doctors.
