This assurance was given to SGPC president Avtar Singh Makkar by US envoy Nancy Powell.

Makkar told reporters here today that he along with other Sikh leaders met Powell in New Delhi yesterday.

Makkar also said that the SGPC would provide a financial assistance of Rs two lakh each to the families of the three 'Ragis' Ranjit Singh, Sita Singh (two brothers who hailed from Delhi) and P Singh (Haridwar) who lost their lives in the Wisconsin Gurudwara shootout.

Two representatives of the US government, Makkar said, would attend the Bhog ceremony at Gurudwara Manji Sahib in Amritsar to be held in memory of those Sikhs killed in the US Gurudwara.
