A leopard, which was tranquilised by forest personnel after it attacked and injured three persons in a village in Jalpaiguri district, was beaten to death by locals here.
The leopard had ventured out of the Jayanti forest and entered North Dhupjhora village looking for food when it was spotted by residents yesterday.
The leopard attacked the villagers injuring three, Wildlife II DFO Sunipa Ghatak said.

But villagers attacked the leopard with sticks, which was unable to run away because it was sedated, and was beaten to death, Ghatak said.
The injured were being treated at the local health centre.
