Seer among two killed in collision between four vehicles

Two persons, including a seer, from Haridwar were killed and five others injured here this evening when four vehicles collided in Raiwala area here.

The accident involving four vehicles occurred at Chidderwala when the accelerator of a truck broke off and it came to a sudden halt after hitting a building material mixer coming from the opposite direction, Raiwala police said.

As the truck came to a sudden halt two vehicles coming behind it including a Tata Indica car and a Mahindra jeep carrying Haridwar's Daksha Mandir Mahamandelshwar Vishwadevanand Ji Maharaj rammed into each other.

Two persons including the seer were killed on the spot and five others were injured.
 

They were all rushed to Rishikesh government hospital where the Mahamandaleshwar and another person identified as Govind Upadhyay were declared brought dead.

The five injured are still under treatment at the hospital.

The body of the Mahamandleshwar has been taken to his ashram at Haridwar.
