Select base metals remain weak on global cues

Select base metals fell further by Rs 2 per kg at the local non-ferrous metals market today on increased selling by stockists, driven by a weak global trend.

Traders said sentiment remained bearish after copper eased on speculation that demand will slow in China, the biggest user of the metal.

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months slid 0.8 per cent to USD 7,012.50 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap remained under selling pressure and shed another Rs 2 to Rs 434, while zinc ingot and nickel (4x4) traded lower by the same margin to Rs 111-117 and Rs 1,090-1,096 per kg respectively.
 

Lead ingot and lead imported were also enquired lower by the same margin to Rs 111 and Rs 109 per kg respectively.

Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg):

Zinc ingot 111-117, Nickel plate (4x4) 1,090-1,096, Gun metal scrap 227, Bell metal scrap 229, Copper mixed scrap 434, Chadri deshi 285.

Lead ingot 111, Lead imported 109, Aluminium ingots 155, Aluminium sheet cutting 156, Aluminium wire scrap 158 and Aluminium utensils scrap 155.
