Select base metals slide on global cues

Select base metal prices eased upto Rs 4 per kg at the local non-ferrous metal market today largely on weak global trend.

Traders said sentiments turned bearish as base metals dropped in global markets after home prices weakened in the biggest user China and as the dollar climbed after the Federal Reserve raised interest-rate estimates.

Meanwhile, copper for delivery in three months retreated to USD 6,872.25 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap and nickel (4x4) declined by Rs 2 and Rs 4 to Rs 434 and Rs 1,100-1,106 per kg, respectively. Lead ingot and lead imported were also traded lower by Rs 2 each to Rs 109 and Rs 107 per kg respectively.

Zinc ingot 114-120, Nickel plate (4x4) 1,100-1,106, Gun metal scrap 227, Bell metal scrap 229, Copper mixed scrap 434, Chadri deshi 285.

Lead ingot 109, Lead imported 107, Aluminium ingots 168, Aluminium sheet cutting 169, Aluminium wire scrap 171 and Aluminium utensils scrap 168.
