Select base metals prices fell up to Rs 5 per kg at the non-ferrous metals market today largely on weak Asian cues amid sluggish demand from consuming industries.
Traders said sentiment turned bearish due to a weakening trend in base metals pack in Shanghai after data from China showed industrial profits declined again, underscoring a manufacturing slowdown in the biggest metals consumer.
At Shanghai, nickel prices fell 0.8 per cent to 68,600 yuan (USD 10,619) a metric tonne.
In the national capital, nickel plate (4x4) and copper fell by Rs 5 and Rs 2 to Rs 842-847 and Rs 351 per kg respectively. Lead ingots, lead imported and zinc ingots also enquired lower by Rs 2 each to Rs 80, Rs 86 and Rs 96-102 per kg respectively.
