Select base metals soften on muted demand

Select base metal prices fell by up to Rs 5 per kg at the non-ferrous metal market today owing to slackened demand from consuming industries amid a weak trend overseas.

Traders said besides weak trend overseas,sluggish demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market led to decline in select base metal prices.

Globally, copper for delivery in three month retreated 0.2 per cent from a seven-week high on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap and nickel plate (4x4) fell by Rs 2 and Rs 5 to Rs 369 and Rs 830-835 per kg respectively. Zinc ingot also eased by Rs 2 to Rs 105-111 per kg.
 

Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg):

Zinc ingot Rs 105-111, Nickel plate (4x4) Rs 830-835, gun metal scrap Rs 227, Bell metal scrap Rs 229, copper mixed scrap Rs 369, chadri deshi Rs 295.

Lead ingot Rs 89, lead imported Rs 95, aluminium ingots Rs 156, aluminium sheet cutting Rs 152, aluminium wire scrap Rs 152 and aluminium utensils scrap Rs 150.
