Select base metals surge on global cues

Tin, copper, brass and aluminium prices rose at the non-ferrous metal market here today on good stockists buying amidst sustained demand from industrial users on the back of higher global cues.

However, nickel eased due to reduced demand from alloy industries.

The industrial metal climbed at the London Metal Exchange (LME) in early trade buoyed by firm demand in top consumer China, while nickel edged off 14-month peaks.

Tin shot-up by Rs 22 per kg to Rs 1,627 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 1,605.

Copper cable scrap, copper armiture and aluminium ingots advanced by Rs 4 per kg each to Rs 495, Rs 484 and Rs 154 from Rs 491, Rs 480 and Rs 150.
 

Copper scrap heavy and copper sheet cutting moved up by Rs 3 per kg each to Rs 489 and Rs 478 from Rs 486 and Rs 475.

Brass utensils scrap and Brass sheet cutting inched-up by a Re per kg each to Rs 351 and Rs 365, respectively.

However, nickel declined by Rs 7 per kg to Rs 1,215 from Rs 1,222.

Zinc and lead softened by a Re per kg each to Rs 176 and Rs 147.
