Select base metals up on firm demand, global cues

Select base metal prices rose by up to Rs 5 per kg at the non-ferrous metal market today on pick up in demand from consuming industries amid firm global cues.

Traders said increased demand from consuming industries at domestic spot market and a firm trend overseas, mainly led to the rise in select base metal prices.

Globally, copper for delivery in three-month ended up 0.1 per cent at USD 6,539 per tonne yesterday on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, copper mixed scrap and nickel plate (4x4) rose by Rs 5 each to Rs 365 and Rs 785-795 per kg, respectively.
 

Lead ingot and lead imported also traded higher by Rs 2 each to Rs 114 and Rs 120 per kg, respectively.

Following are today's metal rates (in Rs per kg):

Zinc ingot Rs 110-116, Nickel plate (4x4) Rs 785-795, gun metal scrap Rs 227, Bell metal scrap Rs 229, copper mixed scrap Rs 365, chadri deshi Rs 295.

Lead ingot Rs 114, lead imported Rs 120, aluminium ingots Rs 154, aluminium sheet cutting Rs 150, aluminium wire scrap Rs 150 and aluminium utensils scrap Rs 148.
