Select base metals weaken on global cues

Select copper, brass and nickel prices weakened further at the non-ferrous metal market here today on stockist selling amid poor demand from industrial users on the back of bearish London Metal Exchange (LME) cues.

Meanwhile, copper sheet cutting recovered moderately on good offtake from industrial users.

Globally, the industrial metal fell at the LME in early trade, after soft U.S. Economic data and as Chinese speculators hit the market amid worries about weak demand.

Copper scrap heavy and nickel declined by Rs 3 per kg to Rs 471 and Rs 1,125 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 474 and Rs 1,128.
 

Copper armiture and brass sheet cutting moved down by Rs 2 per kg to Rs 452 and Rs 337 from Rs 454 and Rs 339.

Brass utensils scrap softened by a Re per kg to Rs 326.

However, copper sheet cutting climbed by Rs 5 per kg to Rs 447 as against Rs 442 yesterday.
