Select copra advances on persistent demand

Copra office alapuza and copra office kozhikode advanced in an otherwise listless spice market here today due to persistent demand from stockists and retailers amid fresh export offtake.

Meanwhile, rest all other speices ruled steady in the absence of any large scale buying.

Copra office Alapuzha surged by Rs 300 per quintal to Rs 8,800 from tuesday's closing level of Rs 8,500 and copra office Kozhikode climbed by Rs 400 per quintal to Rs 8,600 as compared to Rs 8,200 previously.

Following are today's closing rates (in Rs with previous rates in brackets):

Black pepper (per kg) 660/740 (660/740), ginger bleached (per kg) 250 (250), ginger unbleached (per kg) 270 (270), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 8,800 (8,500), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 8,600 (8,200), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 17,200 (17,200), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 10,000 (10,000).
