Select copra declines on low demand

Copra Allapuzha and Copra Kozhikode declined in an otherwise lacklustre spices market here today due to lower demand from stockists and traders.

All other spices ruled stable in the absence of any largescale buying activity.

Copra office Allapuzha and copra office Kozhikode slipped by Rs 100 per quintal each to Rs 5,200 and Rs 5,100 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 5,300 and Rs 5,200, respectively.

Following are today's closing rates (in Rs with previous rates in brackets):

Black pepper (per kg) 735/800 (735/800), ginger bleached (per kg) 160 (160), ginger unbleached (per kg) 180 (180), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 5,200 (5,300), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 5,100 (5,200), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 9,800 (9,800), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 6,900 (6,900).
