Select copra declines on subdued demand, fresh arrivals

Copra office Alapuzha and copra office Kozhikode declined at the spice market here today due to subdued demand from stockists and exporters amid fresh arrivals from producing belts.

The rest all other spices ruled steady in the absence of any worthwhile buying.

Copra office Alapuzha dropped by Rs 200 per quintal to Rs 8,800 from Tuesday's closing level of Rs 9,000.

Copra office Kozhikode moved down by Rs 100 per quintal to Rs 8,700 as against Rs 8,800 yesterday.

Following are today's closing rates (in Rs with previous rates in brackets):

Black pepper (per kg) 660/740 (660/740), ginger bleached (per kg) 250 (250), ginger unbleached (per kg) 270 (270), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 8,800 (9,000), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 8,700 (8,800), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 17,000 (17,000), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 10,300 (10,300).
