Select copra eases on subdued offtake

In a restricted activity, copra Alapuzha and copra Kozhikode prices edged down at the Spices market here today on subdued offtake from stockist and retailers.

Meanwhile, there was no trading in local copra, pepper and ginger markets following bandh called by traders in protest against the imposition of LBT (local body tax) by the government.

Copra office Kozhikode and Copra office Alapuzha slipped by Rs 25 per quintal each to Rs 4,500 and Rs 4,400 from Monday's closing level of Rs 4,525 and Rs 4,425 respectively.

Following are today's closing rates in Rs with previous rates in brackets:

Black pepper (per kg) closed (365/415),ginger bleached (per kg) closed (160),ginger unbleached (per kg) closed (170), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 4,500 (4,525),copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 4,400 (4,425), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) closed (6,000) Copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) closed (5,600).
