Select copra recovers in a restricted trade

In a restricted activity, copra Alapuzha and copra Kozhikode recovered at the spices market here today on renewed demand from stockist and millers.

Meanwhile, there was no trading in local copra, pepper and ginger markets owing to bandh called by traders in protest against the imposition of LBT (local body tax) by the government.

Copra office Kozhikode and Copra office Alapuzha gained by Rs 50 per quintal each to Rs 4,550 and Rs 4,450 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 4,500 and Rs 4,400 espectively.

Following are today's closing rates in Rs with previous rates in brackets:

Black pepper (per kg) closed (365/415),ginger bleached (per kg) closed (160),ginger unbleached (per kg) closed (170), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 4,550 (4,500), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 4,450 (4,400), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) closed (6,000) Copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) closed (5,600).
