Freight rates for nine-tonne pay load section for Bengaluru and Chennai rose by Rs 1,000 at the local truck transport market today following less availability of trucks against busy cargo movements.

Transporters said tight positions of trucks against pick-up in cargo movements mainly pushed up the rates for selective destinations.

Freight rates for the capital to Bengaluru and Chennai moved up by Rs 1,000 each to Rs 63,000 and Rs 64,000, respectively.

Elsewhere, freight rates for other centres remained unchanged.
