Prices of urad and other pulses surged up to Rs 500 per quintal at the wholesale pulses market today on emergence of buying by stockists, coupled with considerable fall in supplies from producing belts.
Traders said besides tight stocks position on restricted arrivals from producing regions, firm demand from retailers mainly attributed sharp rise in select pulses prices.
Furthermore, weakening rupee against dollar, making imports costlier, influenced sentiment, they said.
