Select pulses fall on muted demand

Select pulses led by urad prices drifted lower by upto Rs 500 per quintal at the wholesale pulses market today owing to slackened demand from retailers at prevailing levels against adequate stocks.

Traders said easing demand from retailers at current levels against ample stocks position on increased supplies in the market after the government took steps to curb prices, kept

pressure on urad and a few other pulses prices.

Meanwhile, as prices of pulses continue to rule high, government yesterday decided to import further 1 lakh tonnes of chana and masoor dals to boost domestic supply and check price rise.
 

In the national capital, urad eased to Rs 9,100-10,200 against last close of Rs 9,300-10,700 per quintal. Its dal chilka local, best quality and dhoya followed suit and traded lower by Rs 200 each to Rs 9,300-9,400, Rs 9,400-9,900 and Rs 9,800-10,100 per quintal respectively.

Masoor small and bold declined by Rs 100 each to Rs 5,900-6,100 and Rs 5,950-6,150 per quintal. Its dal local and best quality enquired lower by a similar margin to Rs 6,350-6,850 and Rs 6,450-6,950 per quintal.

Arhar, and its dal dara variety also weakened by Rs 100 each to Rs 6,900 and Rs 9,700-11,400 per quintal respectively.

Kabli gram small variety too shed Rs 100 at Rs 9,400-9,800 per quintal.
