Select spices gain on steady demand

Black pepper ready also moved up on renewed retail demand.

Copra office Alapuzha and copra office Kozhikode both climbed by Rs 50 per quintal each to Rs 4,250 and Rs 4,100 from Wednesday's closing levels of Rs 4,150 and Rs 4,050.

Black pepper went up Rs 5 per kg to Rs 410/440 from Rs 405/435 previously.

Rest of the spices maintained a steady trend in the absence of any market moving factors.

The following are today's closing rates in rupees with previous rates in brackets:

Black pepper (per kg) 410/440 (405/435), ginger bleached (per kg) 90 (90), ginger unbleached (per kg) 105 (105), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 4,200 (4,150), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 4,100 (4,050), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 7,000 (7,000) and copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 5,000 (5,000).
