Select spices rise on renewed demand

Select copra prices rose at the spices market here today following renewed demand from stockists and retailers on the back of good export offtake.

Rest all other spices held steady in the absence of any major buying activity.

Copra office Alappuzha surged by Rs 300 per quintal to Rs 10,600 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 10,300.

Copra office Kozhikode gained by Rs 200 per quintal to Rs 10,300 as against Rs 10,100, while copra Rajapur Mumbai also rose by Rs 200 per quintal to Rs 11,700 as compared to Tuesday's closing level of Rs 11,500.

Following are today's closing rates (in Rs with previous rates in brackets):
 

Black pepper (per kg) 490/580 (490/580), ginger unbleached (per kg) 123 (123), copra office Alappuzha (per quintal) 10,600 (10,300), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 10,300 (10,100), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 11,700 (11,500), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 11,700 (10,700).
