Select spices slip on lower demand, pepper, ginger surges

Copra office Alapuzha and copra Kozhikode prices slipped at the spices market here today due to subdued demand from millers and bulk consumers.

Meanwhile, black pepper and ginger surged further on robust demand from exporters and upcountry advices.

Rest of the spices ruled stable in absence of any worthwhile buying.

Copra office Alapuzha and copra office Kozhikode prices declined by Rs 100 per quintal each to Rs 10,600 and 10,500 from last Saturday's closing level of Rs 10,700 and Rs 10,600, respectively.

However, black pepper climbed by Rs 30/30 per kg to Rs 780/830 from Rs 750/800.

Ginger bleached and unbleached shot-up by Rs 40 and Rs 65 per kg each to Rs 360 and Rs 400 as against Rs 320 and Rs 335, respectively.

Black pepper (per kg) 780/830 (750/800), ginger bleached (per kg) 360 (320), ginger unbleached (per kg) 400 (335), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 10,600 (10,700), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 10,500 (10,600), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 18,000 (18,000), Copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 13,000 (13,000).
