Select spices up on increased demand

Prices of select spices rose up to Rs 20 per kg at the local kirana market today on increased demand against tight supplies from producing regions.

Traders said increased demand against restricted arrivals from producing belts supported the upside in prices of select spices.

In the national capital, Cardamom brown-Jhundiwali and Kanchicut moved up by Rs 20 each to Rs 1,420-1,480 and Rs 1,520-1,660 per kg, respectively.

Makhana and water melon also gained Rs 5 each to Rs 355-430 and Rs 165 per kg, respectively.

Following are today's quotations per quintal:

Ajwain (per kg) 15,500-20,000, black pepper (per kg) 750-900, betel-nut (kg) 180-200, cardamom brown-Jhundiwali (kg) 1,420-1,480 and cardamom brown-Kanchicut (kg) 1,520-1,660.
 

Cardamom small (kg): Chitridar 700-750, cardamom (colour robin) 680-740, cardamom bold 730-750, cardamom extra (bold) 900-950 and cloves 850-900.
