A self-styled
godman was arrested from Kendrapara township today on the charge of taking pictures of a girl and later blackmailing her parents, the police said.
The victim who used to frequent the mutt that the accused had established in Bhagabanpur area under municipality jurisdiction was constantly harassed by the man.
Later the accused had demanded the girl's parents to pay Rs 2 lakh for not making the pictures public, they said.
The self-styled Baba Pramod Dash was arrested following complaint lodged by victim's parents and the accused has confessed to the crime, inspector Kendrapara police station, Pamod Kumar Lenka, said.
