Seminars on social issues to mark Sharad Pawar's 75th birthday

Yashwantrao Chavan Pratishthan will organise a series of seminars this year to celebrate the 75th birthday of NCP president Sharad Pawar.

NCP leader Hemant Takle told reporters that Pawar, who heads the Pratishthan as well, has a bearing towards social change and has always been involved in development issues.

Pawar's 75th birthday falls on December 12.

"Whether in power or not, Pawar has been a catalyst in every sphere due to his all inclusive personality. He has been lauded as well as criticised. The Pratishthan has planned to celebrate his birthday in a fitting manner by organising a series of dialogues between experts which can be a guideline to the future rulers of the country and the state," Takle said.
 

"All the deliberations during the year would be a document worth making," he added.

The 12 seminars, starting tomorrow, will be held in the next six months under the concept of "Maharashtra 2025".

First in the series, to be held in Mumbai tomorrow, is "Challenges before administration", he said, adding that state Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) director Pravin Dixit will speak on 'Ensuring integrity in administration'. Balachandran will speak on topic 'Security- New challenges', Anil Kakodkar will address on Harnessing science and technology for development.

The other seminars will be held on - women's issues, farming, social issues, rural development, health, urbanisation, cultural policy, science and technology, school education, industrialisation - in different parts of the state.

The final, two-day seminar would be held in Mumbai on December 4 and 5.

Nobel laureate Kailash Satyarthi will speak on 'School Education' in Baramati on November 6, he added.
