BJP today alleged that Shiv Sena -- its ally in the ruling coalition in Maharashtra -- has fielded at least 20 candidates with criminal record for the coming civic polls in the city.
The party also distanced itself from a banner in the Ulhasnagar town in the district which featured the Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis alongwith Pappu Kalani, a local politician convicted for murder.
Talking to reporters here, state BJP spokesperson Madhav Bhandari said BJP workers had not put up the banner and it had asked for its removal.
Denying Shiv Sena's charge that BJP had become a 'party of goons', Bhandari alleged the Sena had fielded at least 20 candidates with criminal record in Thane city.
