Shiv Sena today demanded that board of directors of Mumbai Bank, controlled by a prominent MNS leader, be dissolved for alleged corrupt activities and an administrator be appointed to oversee its operations.

A delegation of Sena leaders, led by the party's leader in State Assembly Subhash Desai, met Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan at his residence here today over the issue.

"Mumbai Bank has been embroiled in a series of corruption scandals. If the government wants to save it, it should dissolve the board of directors," Desai told reporters.

MNS MLA Pravin Darekar is chairman of the bank, which is facing allegations including sanctioning of bogus loans, illegal investments and financial irregularities by the son of one of its directors.
