The Shiv Sena today hit out at the Congress for describing RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat as "Hitler" for his controversial 'Hindu nation' remarks saying it is the same party which "appeased" Muslims to derive political mileage while "ignoring" Hindus.

"It is not surprising that Bhagwat has been called a Hitler for his Hindu nation remarks. The nation was built on a pseudo-secular base, where Muslims have only been appeased to derive political mileage," the party said in its editorial mouthpiece 'Saamana'.

"Why did Hindus lose patience with the UPA government? It is because parties like the Congress and the SP gave in to the demands of the 15 per cent Muslims while they ignored 85 per cent of the Hindus. The results of doing that are for everyone to see," it said attributing the recent win of the BJP in Lok Sabha elections to the "Hindutva" agenda.

"Hindus have got together and have voted for the BJP-Shiv Sena. If this continues, then it won't take much time to make this nation a Hindu Rashtra," it added.

Hitting out at Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, the Sena said the BJP bagged a spectacular victory in that state due to "atrocities" committed by the UP government on Hindus there.

"Today Hindu girls are being openly raped in the state. Girls are being forced to change their religion and people who tried to raise a voice against their atrocities were shut up by the state administration. This is what irked the Hindus there and they gave 71 Lok Sabha seats to the BJP," the edit said.

"Once Modi-led government came to power at the Centre, Hindus are now filled with pride. That is the reason Bhagwat made the comments openly. The previous government that backed the Muslims has been brought down," it said.

Speaking at a function to commemorate the 50th year of the foundation of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP), Bhagwat had recently stressed on "Hindustan being a Hindu Rashtra" and about "Hindutva being the identity of our nation".
