Shiv Sena, which is an ally in the BJP-led Maharashtra government, today criticised the government's stand to scrap its earlier decision to sanction new colleges and division, saying it was not in "natural justice".

In a letter to the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Minister of state for Higher and Technical Education Ravindra Waikar said proposals were invited from educational institutions for setting up new colleges and divisions and five months later, they have been denied permission.

"The Government should consider all proposals for new colleges, new curriculum, additional subjects," he said.

The Minister further said on April 29 this year, the government had decided to scrap its earlier decision to give additional colleges and divisions for academic year 2015-16 in view of additional capacity for students in existing colleges.
