The Punjab Government has directed all the departments to send a complete report on the backlog of quota for the blind in government jobs.
The departments were asked to ensure three per cent quota to visually impaired persons as per Supreme Court directive in all A, B, C and D category posts.
The government asked the departments to send the report within one month to the Welfare of Persons with Disabilities wing of the Social Security Department, Punjab.

The decision was taken at a high-level meeting presided by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal, an official spokesman said.
The Punjab government had earlier asked all the heads of the departments to furnish details regarding the filling up of the posts of visually impaired according to the three per cent reservation.
The spokesman further said that the departments would maintain the total number of vacancies which have arisen in case of Category A, B, C and D posts and the vacancies filled up through the process of direct recruitment since 1995.
He also said that the backlog of vacancies would be covered especially for the persons with disabilities.
