Senior advocate of the Supreme Court Vikas Singh will contest for the president's post of the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), which was held by Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley from 1999 to 2013.
Singh, who is also the president of the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA), today said he would be filing his nomination papers for the June 30 DDCA polls tomorrow.
Singh will be challenging Rajat Sharma, an eminent journalist who has been fielded by one of the DDCA factions, for the prestigious post.
The senior advocate told PTI that he would contest the DDCA election and that he had the support of a considerable number of members of the association, including some former Delhi cricketers.
It has been reported that Sharma has the backing of former DDCA chief Sneh Bansal and former treasurer of the association Narinder Batra, who is also the president of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) and the International Hockey Federation (FIH).
