Senior citizen found murdered at his residence in Mumbai

A 72-year-old man was found murdered at his residence in Masjid Bunder area in South Mumbai today, police said.

Iqbal Darvesh, was found dead by his grandson at his house in Sai Manjil building in Israel mohalla, a senior police official said.

The door of the house was open and the television as well as the fan was on when the grandson spotted his body, he added.

According to the official, after post-mortem, it was found that he was beaten to death by a stick and was strangled.

A case of murder has been registered against unidentified person, said Dnyaneshwar Chavan, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone-2).
 

"We suspect that the killer must be known to the victim," he said, adding a probe is on.
