The ruling Congress in Meghalaya suffered yet another jolt today when another senior party leader joined the National People's Party (NPP) ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
Senior Congress leader from the Garo Hills region Nidhuram Hajong along with thousand of his supporters joined the NPP at a meeting held Mahendraganj, NPP spokesperson James K Sangma confirmed today.
Speaking at the meeting, Hajong said that he has full faith in P A Sangma's leadership as he felt that keeping in mind the current situation in Meghalaya the former Lok Sabha speaker was the right man to save and revive the state.
Earlier this month, two senior Congress leaders from Bajengdoba in West Garo Hills also joined the NPP.
