Senior CPI(M) leader Sukomal Sen passes away

Senior CPI(M) leader and the chairman of the party's Central Control Commission, Sukomal Sen, passed away at a city hospital this morning after a massive cardiac arrest. He was 83.

Sen, who was one of the main organisers of State Government Employees movement in the country, was suffering from age-related ailments. He is survived by his wife and son.

The former Rajya Sabha MP had served as the general secretary of All India State Government Employees Federation.

He was also the vice president of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions (CITU), the trade union wing of the CPI(M).
