Suni Soni, Secretary in the Inter-State Council Secretariat in Ministry of Home Affairs, died of cardiac arrest at a private hospital here today.
He is survived by wife and two sons.
Soni (59), a 1981-batch IAS officer of the Maharashtra cadre, had joined the Home Ministry on Wednesday, MHA spokesperson said.
Earlier, he was Secretary, Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs.
The last rites will be held in Delhi on Sunday, he said.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has condoled the death of Soni.
