A senior IPS officer died after the car he was driving veered off the road and fell into a gorge about 10 kms from here today.
Chandershekhar Pandit, who was posted as Superintendent of Police (security) in Chamba border, was killed when his Nano car fell into a gorge near Panthaghati area this evening.
The 58-year-old officer was driving the car. He is survived by wife and a son.

After the accident, passers-by rushed the police officer to nearby Tenzing hospital but he was declared brought dead by the doctors.
Pandit was posted as SP, Shimla during the BJP regime but with the change of guard, he was shifted to Police Training school at Droh in Kangra and later posted as SP(Security) on Chamba border.
