Senior journalist Arvind Marathe dead

Senior journalist from Palghar Arvind Marathe died here after brief illness.

He was 74.

Marathe was ill for past sometime and passed away on Monday night at his residence. The funeral took place yesterday, family members said.

Marathe in his career spanning over three decades worked with leading Marathi dailies like Sakal, Sanmitra, Navshakti, Loksatta and Maharashtra Times and also worked as a teacher at Vidya Bhavan school in Edvan here.

He was recognised for his work highlighting the issues of people in the tribal-dominated belt. Marathe was also founder president of Teachers Co-operative Credit society here.

He is survived by wife and two children.
