Senior sports journalist passes away

Senior sports journalist Shashikant Pathak today passed away in Ranchi.

Pathak, 50, is survived by wife and two children, family sources said here.

He was suffering from cancer, they said.

Pathak, who was with the Prabhat Khabar till his last breath, began his career in the Hindi newspaper in 1985 and covered the India/England ODI on January 19.

Condoling his death, Congress MP Subodh Kant Sahay said not only the journalist fraternity lost a good human being but also the society to which he contributed immensely.

Jharkhand State Cricket Association President Amitabh Choudhary and several others expressed sorrow at the demise of the scribe.
 

"Pathak was a committed and dedicated journalist," senior journalist Madhukar said.
