Sensex inclusion pushes Lupin stock up; Tata Power slips

Stocks of drug maker Lupin gained over 1 per cent today as the company is set to replace private power producer Tata Power in the benchmark Sensex.

The company's scrip ended the day with a gain of 1.10 per cent at Rs 1,754.70 on the BSE. During the day, it rose by 2.5 per cent to Rs 1,779.

On NSE, it settled at Rs 1,753, up 1 per cent from its previous close.

On the other hand, shares of Tata Power fell by 1.19 per cent to settle at Rs 74.85 on BSE.

The reconstitution in BSE indices will be effective from June 22, the exchange had said in a statement on Friday.
 

Besides, Adani Power will be dropped from the BSE 100 index while various changes have been made to a host of other BSE indices as well.

Shares of Adani Power ended with a loss of 0.12 per cent at Rs 40.35.

In the stock market, the BSE 30-share Sensex ended the day at 27,643.88, down 313.62 points.
