Sensitise students about hazards of crackers: Delhi govt to schools

With Diwali approaching, the Delhi government has directed all schools in the national capital to run a campaign sensitising students about ill- effects of burning firecrackers.

"All heads of schools are advised to initiate awareness programmes to run anti-firecrackers campaign to sensitise students and staff members about the ill-effects of burning firecrackers between the festival of Dusshera and Diwali," a communication sent to school principals said.

The Directorate of Education (DoE) has asked schools that "their eco-clubs must take proactive role and responsibility in spreading mass awareness through the students and parents to increase outreach in society to keep Delhi pollution free during this period".
 



Schools have also been asked to circulate among students and staff the information brochure by Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB) regarding health hazards of firecrackers due to their chemical composition.
