Members of Vidarbha Rajya Andolan Samiti (VRAS) have decided to hold an agitation in front of Union Minister Nitin Gadkari's residence in Nagpur next month to press for their demand for separate Vidarbha.
VRAS convener Wamanrao Chatap today called upon the supporters of a separate Vidarbha to join the agitation on August 9 to press for the demand.
"The movement for Vidarbha has gained momentum now, after years of step by step and non-violent struggle in the past," he told reporters here.
"We have been subjected to step-motherly treatment, ever since (the formation of Maharashtra). This is evident with huge backlogs in irrigation, agricultural pump-sets, road projects, power cuts, employment in government sectors to the people in the region and the list is never ending," Chatap claimed.
